5. CANNA BUTTER

Cannabis Butter

Cannabis-infused butter is an excellent recipe to learn. Although you wouldn’t eat it by itself, it is a great ingredient to use in other recipes, infusing pretty much anything with a buzz (plus, most of the below recipes will require it!). To make, finely grind up your marijuana (about 18-30 grams should do the trick). Add this into a saucepan with 1 litre of water and about 250g of butter. Bring this to a low simmer, and stir it all up. You need to allow this to continue to simmer for at least 3 hours, but up to a whole day depending on how things are going. You will know when it is done when you see a distinct layer of oil floating on the top. If the water gets a bit too low before this happens, add a bit more in.

Note: Make sure you do not fill your saucepan to high; it will cause boiling oil to splatter everywhere, making a mess and potentially burning someone. Better yet, use a saucepan with a clear lid.

Once this point has been reached, allow the mixture to cool a bit, then strain it into a large bowl. This will remove any plant matter. Put the bowl in the fridge overnight to solidify, and you will be left with a layer of cannabis butter come morning. Just be careful when removing the top layer of butter from the bowl, you don’t want it to fall in the remaining water! This butter can then be stored in the fridge.RELATED STORY

1. CANNABIS BROWNIES

Cannabis Brownie

Probably the most famous cannabis infused edible there is, cannabis brownies are straightforward to make. All you need is some marijuana, some oil, and some brownie mix. Firstly, make sure your brownie mix is one that requires oil as an added ingredient – this is essential.

To begin with, the oil needs to be infused with your cannabis. Grind up 4-18 grams of weed (depending on how strong you want it) as finely as you can. Place this in a saucepan and pour in the amount of oil required by your brownie mix instructions. Heat the oil over a medium heat for roughly 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, this should infuse the oil with all the cannabinoids in your weed. Lastly, let the oil cool, then strain out the plant matter. You now have cannabis infused oil ready to be used as part of the instructions for your brownie mix! You can optionally leave the weed in the mix, for a little-added kick, should you want to.

There you have it. Five super easy recipes to follow. You will need to make yourself some cannabis butter/oil first, but once you have this base ingredient, there will be no stopping you. So get in the kitchen, and get baked!
